Creating Your Account

    Get Mpoa from Google Play Store or Apple App Store

  2. Sign Up

    Tap "Sign Up" and enter your phone number

  3. Verify Your Phone

    Enter the OTP code sent to your phone via SMS

  4. Complete Your Profile

    Add photos, write your bio, and select your interests

  5. Start Swiping!

    You're all set to start discovering potential matches

3. How Matching Works
The Swiping System

Mpoa uses a card-based swiping interface to help you discover potential matches:

When You Match

A match happens when two people swipe right on each other. Here's what happens next:

  1. You'll see a "It's a Match!" screen
  2. The match appears in your "Matches" tab
  3. You can now send messages to each other
  4. Either person can send the first message

  • Age Range: Set minimum and maximum age (18-50+)
  • Distance: How far away potential matches can be (up to 100km)
  • Gender Preference: Who you're interested in meeting

Starting Conversations

Once you match with someone, you can start chatting:

  • Go to the "Matches" tab
  • Tap on the match you want to message
  • Type your message and send!

Unmatching

If you no longer want to communicate with a match:

  1. Open the conversation
  2. Tap the three dots menu
  3. Select "Unmatch"
  4. Confirm your decision

Note: Unmatching is permanent and deletes the entire conversation. The other person won't be notified but will no longer see the match.

  1. Open their profile or conversation
  2. Tap the three dots menu
  3. Select "Report"
  4. Choose the reason and submit

To Block a User:

  1. Open their profile
  2. Tap the three dots menu
  3. Select "Block"
  4. Confirm your decision
Red Flags to Watch For:

7. Frequently Asked Questions
Account & Profile

After entering your phone number during signup, you'll receive an OTP (One-Time Password) via SMS. Enter this 6-digit code in the app to verify your number. The code expires after 10 minutes. If you don't receive it, tap "Resend Code".

No, date of birth cannot be changed after account creation for security and age verification purposes. Make sure you enter the correct date when signing up. If you entered it incorrectly, you'll need to contact support.

Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account. This action is permanent and cannot be undone. All your matches, messages, photos, and data will be permanently deleted. You won't be able to recover your account.

Check that: 1) You've granted camera/photo library permissions in phone settings, 2) Photos are in JPG or PNG format, 3) File size is under 10MB, 4) Photos meet our content guidelines (no nudity, violence, or copyrighted content). If problems persist, try restarting the app.
Matching & Swiping

Try these tips: 1) Upload clear, high-quality photos showing your face, 2) Write an interesting bio, 3) Complete all profile sections, 4) Expand your age range and distance preferences, 5) Stay active - swipe regularly, 6) Be selective but not too picky. Remember, matching takes time!

Yes, but only with a Premium subscription. Premium members can see who liked them before matching, giving them the choice to swipe right back immediately. Free users will only know when they mutually match.

Free users get 5 swipes per day. When you run out, you'll see a message saying "No more profiles" or "Out of swipes". Your swipes reset at midnight (12:00 AM EAT). You can upgrade to Premium for unlimited swipes, or simply wait for tomorrow!

Currently, there's no undo feature. Once you swipe, the decision is final. Take your time and look carefully at each profile before swiping. We may add a "rewind" feature for Premium users in the future.
Messaging

After matching, go to your "Matches" tab, tap on the person's profile, and start typing! Either person can send the first message. Be genuine, reference something from their profile, and ask open-ended questions to keep the conversation flowing.

This happens if: 1) They unmatched you, 2) They deleted their account, 3) They blocked you, or 4) Their account was banned for violating our terms. Unfortunately, you won't be able to contact them anymore. Keep swiping - there are plenty more matches out there!

Photo sharing in messages is coming soon! For now, you can only send text messages and emojis. We're working on adding photos, GIFs, and voice messages in a future update. Stay tuned!
Premium & Payments

First, wait 2-5 minutes as payment processing can take time, especially for M-Pesa/Airtel. Check your payment confirmation SMS. If after 10 minutes you still don't have Premium, contact support via the Help page with your transaction ID and we'll resolve it immediately.

Premium subscriptions are pre-paid and non-refundable. However, if you were charged twice by mistake or experienced a technical error, contact support with your transaction details and we'll assist you. Your Premium features remain active until the end of your billing period.

No, Premium subscriptions on Mpoa do NOT auto-renew. Each plan is a one-time purchase. When your Premium expires, you'll revert to a free account. You can renew anytime by purchasing a new plan. We'll send you a reminder before your Premium expires.
Technical Issues

Try these steps in order: 1) Force close and restart the app, 2) Clear app cache in phone settings, 3) Update to the latest version from Play Store/App Store, 4) Restart your phone, 5) Uninstall and reinstall the app. If issues persist, contact support with your device model and OS version.

Check that: 1) Notifications are enabled for Mpoa in phone settings, 2) You have a stable internet connection, 3) Notifications are enabled in app Settings, 4) Battery saver isn't restricting background data, 5) You're on the latest app version. Still not working? Contact support.

Ensure location services are enabled for Mpoa in phone settings. Set it to "While Using App" or "Always". Open the app and allow location access when prompted. Your location updates when you open the app, not continuously. If problems persist, try toggling location off/on in phone settings.

8. Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account and using Mpoa, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use our service.

2. Eligibility
  • You must be at least 18 years old
  • You must provide accurate information
  • You must not have been previously banned from Mpoa
  • You must comply with all local laws
3. Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your account
  • All activities under your account
  • The accuracy of information you provide
  • Notifying us of unauthorized access
4. Prohibited Conduct

You may NOT:

  • Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
  • Post false, misleading, or fraudulent content
  • Impersonate another person or entity
  • Use the service for commercial purposes
  • Scrape, copy, or download user data
  • Create multiple accounts
  • Share explicit sexual content
  • Promote hate speech or violence
  • Solicit money or financial information
  • Spam or send unsolicited messages
5. Content Guidelines

All profile content (photos, bio, messages) must:

  • Be appropriate and respectful
  • Not contain nudity or sexual content
  • Not promote illegal activities
  • Not infringe on others' rights
  • Not contain hate speech or discrimination
6. User Content License

By posting content on Mpoa, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute your content for the purpose of operating and improving the service.

7. Premium Subscriptions
  • Premium subscriptions are pre-paid and non-refundable
  • Features may change with notice
  • Subscriptions do not auto-renew
  • Benefits are personal and non-transferable
8. Termination

We reserve the right to:

  • Suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms
  • Remove content that violates our guidelines
  • Modify or discontinue the service at any time
  • Refuse service to anyone for any reason
9. Disclaimer of Warranties

Mpoa is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee:

  • Uninterrupted or error-free service
  • The accuracy of user profiles
  • That you will find matches
  • The conduct of other users
10. Limitation of Liability

Mpoa and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. Any disputes will be resolved in Kenyan courts.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of Mpoa after changes means you accept the new terms. We'll notify you of major changes.
